The Stylist Olivia Palermo in NYC

Olivia Palermo (born February 28, 1986) is a New York socialite and is a cast member on the MTV reality television series "The City."

Born into wealth and privilege, Olivia Palermo’s mother is an interior decorator and her father is a prominent New England real-estate developer. She has attended some of the finest private schools money can buy including St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, Connecticut, and the all-female Nightingale-Bamford School on New York’s Upper East Side (one of the nation’s elite university-preparatory schools). Currently Olivia Palermo takes classes at The New School, one of New York’s most distinguished private universities.

Palermo initially denied rumors in 2008 that she would be a part of The City, a spin-off the MTV's cultural phenomenon "The Hills" but was later confirmed as a cast member. She agreed to star in the series to familiarize herself with acting. She was signed to Wilhelmina Models in 2009 and also launched a jewelry line with Roberta Freymann in 2010. In February 2010 Olivia became a spokesmodel for Matches Fashion's Freda label ahead of London Fashion Week. On November 19, she told ELLE.com that she is working on her own reality show. She said, "I'm currently working on a TV project, my own show". The show will follow her launching her own fashion line.

Lauren Conrad Fashion Tips

It makes perfect sense that Lauren Conrad just launched her own fashion website; she did get her start at Teen Vogue, after all! Between food and fashion, primping and party-planning, she has a lot of wisdom about a little of everything.

So if you follow up on daily Fashion Blog posts, then it should be no news to you that Lauren Conrad, along with Allure Magazine, her make up artist, Amy Nadine and hairstylist, Kristin Ess, launched thebeautydepartment.com, which is a site that will offer beauty tips like "How to do the hottest runway tricks. How to wear purple eyeliner. How to do beach curls," according to Conrad. The site which officially launched on April 19 is absolutely fabulous and even featured its first video how-to tutorial featuring Lauren Conrad herself, demonstrating how to do her famous cat-eye/winged liner that she is so famously known for. It was only a matter of time until she was finally on the cover of Conde' Nast's beauty publication. She was part of the famous publishing company after all, when she was an intern for Teen Vogue!

Miss America 2012 Final Moments

Another year of beauty talents, another round of 2012 and here we are 'Miss America 2012'. Fashion Tube Aka Fashvideo will soon post the full HD episode (this video was recorded on a camcorder).

A 23-year-old beauty queen Laura Kaeppeler from Kenosha, Wisconsin, has won the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas.

Miss Oklahoma Betty Thompson came in SECOND, while Miss New York Kaitlyn Monte was placed THIRD.

Laura Kaeppeler won the pageant Saturday night after strutting in a white bikini and black beaded evening gown, singing opera and answering a question about whether beauty queens should declare their politics by saying Miss America represents everyone.

"Miss America represents everyone, so I think the message to political candidates is that they represent everyone as well," Kaeppeler said. "And so in these economic times, we need to be looking forward to what America needs, and I think Miss America needs to represent all."

Kaeppeler wins a $50,000 scholarship and gets the title for one year. Her platform during the competition was supporting and mentoring children of incarcerated parents.

Kaeppeler was chosen as the winner by a panel of seven judges during a live telecast on ABC. The event was the culmination of a week of preliminary competitions and months of preparations for the titleholders from all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Fashion Bloggers Changing the World

From the front row to street style, are bloggers becoming fashion's new power players? We ask Rumi Neely, Bryanboy, The Sartorialist's Scott Schuman and more to join the debate. This month’s edition of Net-A-Porter magazine has been taken over by a selection of bloggers

The big question asked was- How are bloggers changing fashion? It doesn’t take a genius to notice that over the years the front rows at fashion shows have been changing drastically. Bloggers like BryanBoy and Tavi are now sitting next to Anna Wintour (the equivalent of being perched on the throne with the Queen of England). Bloggers are also getting the chance to collaborate with their favorite designers (Andy from the Style Scrapbook and Kipling) and modelling in fashion campaigns (Denni of Chicmuse for American Apparel).

Now a days if a designer wants a hit season, he better make sure that the bloggers are on his side. Yay! here we go now, Fashvideo thinks that you should atleast follow the top 10 fashion blogs/bloggers:

1. Fashionista
Far and away the best for hip updates on news and fashion industry gossip- and their “Splurge & Steals” features the best of what’s out there. Founded by the founder of Gawker.com, Elizabeth Spiers. http://www.fashionista.com/

2. Frugal-Fashionista
If you want to look like you have a lot of money or your own designer without paying a lot of money to your own designer, this is your blog. The template is to take a celebrity look and recreated it with pieces that cost under $50.
http://frugal-fashionistas.com/

3. The Sartorialist

4. Omiru
Another blog that is all about affordability, Omiru posts daily with outfits and links to each piece. Great place for the fashionista in you.
http://www.omiru.com/

5. The Cherry Blossom Girl
Written by a French fashion designer, this blog takes a more artsy angle on fashion, and most photographs feature the writer/designer Alix as the fashion model. An innovative insider’s look at fashion from someone who loves the game.
http://www.thecherryblossomgirl.com/

6. GoFugYourself
Funny funny funny. Great posts about celebrity fashion from two girls who know what they are talking about and know how to say it so you listen. They recently covered Fashion week for New York Magazine. http://gofugyourself.celebuzz.com/

7. Goop
More of an all encompassing lifestyle blog, purportedly created by Gwyneth Paltrow, Goop covers everything on the periphery and axis of fashion. Taking the fashion-consciousness of its message to heart, this blog is beautifully designed and full of great information. http://goop.com/

8. Jezebel
I mean, you have to love the name. They cover, as you would expect, fashion, sex and celebrity: everything for the modern Jezebel. http://jezebel.com/

9. Fashion Toast
A great place to see someone who is passionate about fashion, both writing about it and creating it. Definitely for the younger twenty-something crowd, it is a great source of inspiration. Huge community interaction on the comments. http://www.fashiontoast.com/

10. Style Scrap Book by Andy Torres
Mexican freelance stylist blogging from Amsterdam. This gorgeous beauty is from Mexico, living in Amsterdam, but obsessed with Paris. She has an international charm and fashion sensibility. She effortlessly pairs tailored tops and jackets with long maxi styles. http://stylescrapbook.com

Rumi Neely's new Jewelry Line | Fashion Toast Girl

Take an inside look at the Fashiontoast x Dannijo photoshoot with blogger Rumi Neely! Featuring her new jewelry line launching exclusively on Tobi.

Who she is:  Born in San Fransisco and now lives in San Diego, Rumi Neely, personal style blogger behind Fashion Toast, is one of the pioneers in making fashion blogging a career. Spawned from her blog has come a modelling contract with US fashion giant Forever 21, a jewellery collection with Dannijo and a capsule wardrobe collection with RVCA, whose previous collaborators have included supermodel Erin Wasson. Her signature is effortless SoCal style – loose, draped lines, an excess of heavy metal jewllery – rings and necklaces are a favourite – combined with unexpected designer accents: Chloé platform boots, Dolce and Gabbana wedges or an Alexander Wang Diego bag. The secret behind her huge popularity is her penchant for accessible fashion - Topshop, Zara, H&M and thrifted/vintage pieces feature heavily, making a clear case for fashion being for everyone, not just for those who can afford it.

Twitter Interview with Top Fashion Bloggers

Is twitter a friend or a foe? Swide interviewed the important bloggers behind Bryanboy, Chicmuse, The Glamourai, The Bag Hag, Music Fashion Art, Most Wanted Paris, Fashion Toast and Style Scrapbook.

It's crucial that fashion lovers are kept informed of all the hottest front row, backstage and catwalk gossip as it happens. If you want to be the first to know which new model opened the Marc Jacobs show, who took a tumble off their vertiginous heels, which A-lister is schmoozing with Anna Wintour in the front row, and, of course, all the dirt from the world's most fashionable parties, where do you go? Twitter, of course.

Roots Spring Fashion Collection

Is there a brand more Canadian than Roots? With the exception of the signature HBC stripes, Roots is a company I think of, when I think of Canadiana. But looking at their Spring 2011 collection – no maple leafs in sight, all I could think of was…STYLISH!

Roots shoes and bags have become increasingly popular in the last few years - mainly because of the quality (which is superb), and the variety of styles available. Admittedly, though I don’t own any Roots leather pieces of my own, I was really impressed with the company’s Spring 2011 collection – supple leathers in colors ranging from sandy brown to hot pink, comfy-looking (and yet still stylin’) boots, leather vests, sophisticated shapes, and clothes that are perfect for layering. Impressive, indeed.

The favorite pieces were definitely the ones made with colorful leathers…yellow, orange, pink, and camel - amazing for those sunny days ahead! The below two-tone messenger bag was perfect blast of color for practically any outfit, no?

So if you haven’t checked out Roots Spring 2011offerings yet, make sure to stop by a store near you, because beyond the usual medley of hoodies and athletic pants, their leather goods might just make you rethink your next designer bag purchase – the quality of leather is that good.

Designer Proenza Schouler Visits the Room

May 31 was marked with great celebration as designer duo Proenza Schouler visited THE ROOM Queen Street. To provide a proper welcome THE ROOM invited clients, press, bloggers and the fashion crowd for an intimate cocktail that showed off Canadian hospitality at its best.

Proenza Schouler is a New York based modern luxury womenswear and accessories label, founded in 2002 by designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. After meeting at Parson’s School of Design in 1998, the duo collaborated on their senior thesis collection, which was bought in its entirety by Barneys New York. McCollough and Hernandez worked with Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors respectively, then partnered on their graduation project.

Forming its name by combining the designers’ mothers’ maiden names, Proenza Schouler has gone on to achieve critical success since its inception, including the 2003 CFDA Perry Ellis Award for new talent, and the inaugural CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund award in 2004. In 2007, Proenza Schouler received the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year award (for which they were also nominated in 2006 and 2008) and Valentino Fashion Group took a 45% stake in Proenza Schouler. Following the launch of their first collection of shoes and handbags in 2008, they were awarded the 2009 CFDA Accessory Designer of the Year Award, and were nominated again in 2010.

Proenza Schouler has collaborated with a number of celebrities, developing relationships with Kristen Stewart, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chloe Sevigny, Kate Bosworth, Kirsten Dunst, Julianne Moore and Charlize Theron, as well as designing Academy Awards dresses for Maggie Gyllenhall and Amy Adams. They have also done several collaborations with brands such as Target (2007,2011), Giuseppi Zanotti (Spring 2009), and J Brand Jeans (Fall/Winter 2010).

Proenza Schouler is sold in over 100 of the most exclusive retail outlets worldwide, including Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Harvey Nichols, Colette, Joyce and Lane Crawford.

André Leon Talley, former American editor-at-large for Vogue magazine praised the designers in New York Magazine, commending them for their impeccable tailoring and expressed admiration in regards to the perfect construction of their clothes. At the outset, the two gained popularity due to their modern evaluation of bustiers and corsetry; they are also known for their menswear-inspired coats as well as their sleek and minimal silhouettes that frequently come in dark neutrals.
